Exclusive: Night treatmentAn Israeli drama series about a psychiatrist who sees his patients at night is in the process of being remade in Germany. SquareOne Productions is working on a German version of the series, which has proven popular on Yes TV in Israel. SquareOne and Yes have previously collaborated on international versions of Your Honorwhich has been revamped in several regions.

German version of Night treatment marks the first international deal for the series. The drama revolves around Louie, an Arab-Israeli psychologist who struggles to raise his family after the suicide of his Jewish-Israeli wife. He decides to change his practice to receive patients at night. Flashback sequences reveal their stories.

The original version was produced by Eight Productions. It stars Youssef Soueid as Louie and Shira Haas (Captain America) as one of his patients.

German Night treatment In development with writers attached whose names have yet to be mentioned. Deadline understands that talks are already underway with on-screen talent. It is understood that the adaptation will be based in Germany and Austria. Broadcast partners have not been confirmed. New German-language edition of SquareOne Your honorproduced with Mona Film, was for ARD in Germany and ORF in Austria, respectively.

SquareOne is part of the Vuelta Group. Al Munteanu, CEO of prodco and president of Vuelta Germany, said the unconventional wizard visualization that moves his sessions into the night “creates a magical nocturnal world as a counterpoint to the day, offering new and surprising perspectives.”

Speaking of the German-language version, he added: “The characters and occasional plots of the original are essentially retained, but the language is imbued with humor, irony, and wordplay. We have – without revealing the beans just yet – amazing talent in this role. We feel that this show has the potential to win awards, because it’s fresh, human and relevant to our times.
